Mano-Mano

The term MANO-MANO means “empty hands”, and has become known as “hand-to-hand self-defense”.

Mano-Mano is a combination of different styles of Filipino Martial Arts including Sikaran (foot fighting), Boksing (Filipino boxing), Dumog (self-defense grappling), and weapon awareness.

Sikaran

Sikaran is a Filipino Martial Art that focuses on kicking techniques.

Sikaran can be traced back to the 1500′s where Filipino farmers would gather after working and practice fighting in their fields. The farmers would use their strong legs and kicking skills to drive out their opponent from a designated area, that was 25 feet in diameter.

Today, Sikaran is practiced all over the world, including the Philippines, Canada, Australia, United States and Europe.

Tadyakamao

Tadyakamao (aka Boksing), is the empty hands of Kali (or stick-fighting).

Tadyakamao is an extremely practical system, as it is deeply rooted in ancient Philippines practices of self-defense and training in times of war. Tadyakamao emphasizes close range techniques, that use the strongest bones of the human body (eg closed fists, open hand, forearms, elbows, knees, heel, shins).

Another unique aspect of Tadyakamao is that both defence and offence are emphasized simultaneously, where striking and blocking have the same shape and posture. Tadyakamao also uses fluid weaving motions, that are designed to conserve energy.

Due to its movement and stances that resemble the careful and silent motion of a tiger stalking its prey, Tadyakamao has been nicknamed “Boksing Tigre” (Tiger Boxing).

Kali

Kali (aka 'Arnis', aka 'Escrima') is the art of stick fighting. Kali was originally a martial art that was practiced using a bladed weapon. The blade has evolved over time, into the use of sticks (made out of rattan). The Kali program consists of stickfighting, stick and knife, double stick, knife self defense, empty hand combat, wrist locks, takedowns and sport Kali.
